The Pros and Cons of 2009

A few of the things that I experienced in 2009. Good and bad.

Visited London, Bratislava, Vienna, Prague, Dublin, Belfast, Helsinki
I spent almost all my money on traveling and I'm quite proud of that.

Attended two design conferences.
Future of Web Design (London) and Build (Belfast)

Relocated to Cluj-Napoca.
One of the best decisions I made.

Spent a day on a frozen island near Helsinki
It was freaking cold, but it was worth it.

Ate salmon soup.
Just delicious.

Ate shark.
You have to try it.

Failed to complete 2 projects.
I will take all the blame. It was bad management on my side.

Sang at a wedding.
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton.

Decided to try the "retained client" business approach.
Starting from Jan 2010.

Fell in love.
With a gorgeous girl.

Attended a chocolate seminar in Dublin.
Need I say more?

Broke a heart or two.

Attended a coffee seminar
at Starbucks.

Worked for 2 days inside an ex-communist factory
along with people from 7 different countries, at the Social Innovation Camp.

Visited the Guiness factory.
Cheers!

Enjoyed the Sacher Torte in Vienna
Nom nom nom.

Visited the Ripley's Believe It Or Not museum
and saw some really weird stuff.

Started to take piano lessons.
You'll all get discounts to my shows.

Felt like going crazy from a tooth ache.
Man I don't wanna go through that shit ever again.

Felt pure and unadulterated peace
inside a weird church in Helsinki.

Made new friends.

Experienced a moment of sincere happiness.

Went with the ferry over frozen water.

to be continued

How was your 2009?

Bratislava, Vienna, Prague

If you're following me on twitter you probably know that I've been invited to attend the Social Innovation Camp (Bratislava, 16-18 September).

I'm using this opportunity to visit Vienna and Prague as well, as I've heard they are beautiful cities. And you know I'm a fool for traveling.

So if you're from Bratislava, Prague or Vienna, leave a comment and let's meet for a coffee or something.

ps: I'm still looking for accommodation in Bratislava, got any tips?

Twabstinence

I ran a little experiment, to see if I can hold myself from tweeting for 24 hours.

The purpose was to find out if I can increase my productivity by spending less time on Twitter.
And the results were indeed as expected.
I managed to focus more on my work and to complete my tasks much faster.

That's why I'm setting up a new personal rule. I shall check twitter just once an hour, and will not spend more then 5 minutes to do that.
I'm very curious if this will turn out to be a productivity booster, I will keep you posted on that.

What are your thoughts?
Is Twitter eating up too much of your time?

And the 1st prize goes to...

Me, Myself and I :)

The karaoke party was great, i had a very good time and won a bottle of 12 Years Old Chivas Regal.

Friday night

Is not a good time for design. For any kind of work, actually. I'm pretty tired, it was a hard week, all I want now is to lay down in bed and watch a good movie.
